We’re moving to Chile!
We have been toying with the idea of moving to Chile for a while now, but it wasn't until very recently that this became a real possibility. This is an opportunity we can’t pass up! For Adam, it means a great professional move, working on some exciting projects and improving his Spanish. For Emilia it means living a few years in her mother's land and learning the language and culture. For me, it means going back home, getting reacquainted with friends and family and spending more time with Emi since I won't be working for a while :).
We'll be living in Santiago which is a big change from Missoula! It's the capital of the country and it's home to millions of people. It's a very densely populated city which has it's positives and negatives... we'll keep focused on the positives though :) and the positives are many (take a look).

We are very excited about this adventure but it continues to be an emotional process. It is very hard to think about leaving Missoula, it's the place that saw me change from a single young woman fresh out of college into a professional, a wife, a mom, a homeowner, etc. I came here almost 10 years ago, thinking I was just coming here for a year. Can you believe it?!! This place sucks you in!! It's hard not to stay..it has lots to offer: rivers, mountains, MANY breweries, but most of all ... the best asset Missoula has is its people, the many good friends we've made here. But... we are craving a change, an adventure, even if it's just for a couple of years. We want to have new experiences, see different things.... you know? as you approach the 4th decade of your life you start thinking "What else is out there?!" Well... we'll let you know! :)
Adam will be working for the same company that has employed him in Missoula for the past few years. He will be part of a water resources and geology team that is involved with assessing the impacts of mining projects in Chile and elsewhere. The company also maintains offices in Lima, Peru, and we will likely all travel there at some point.
We have every intention of returning... our house will be rented during our leave and some of our things will be put in storage. We will also be selling a lot of things so stay tuned... we might have something you've been looking for! :)
